Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between behavioral activation/inhabitation and binge eating behavior, specifically whether these variables can be explained by emotional dysregulation as mediating factors. 525 high school students were asked to complete Behavioral Activation System(BAS), Behavioral Inhibition System(BIS), Korean version of difficulties of emotional regulation scale(K-DERS), and Bulimia Test Revised(BULIT-R). Following results are summary of the study. First, it is appeared to have significantly positive correlation among the system of Behavioral Activation/Inhabitation, Emotional Dysregulation, and the Binge Eating Behavior. Second, Regression analyses were conducted to examine mediating effects emotional dysregulation. The results indicated emotional dysregulation partially mediated relationship between BAS and binge eating behavior. And emotilnal dysregulation perfectly mediates BIS and binge eating behavior. The results of this study suggest that the interventions of emotional regulation for the individuals complaining about binge eating behaviors would be more effective to decrease binge eating behaviors, especially in sensitive individuals to BAS/BIS. Finally, the clinical implications and limitations of the present study and directions of future research were discussed.
